Coming Up:

My 365th day is coming up soon: October 4, to be exact. I plan to post on that day with all kinds of fun crap, but that day is not today. So, here's some other stuff:

Yesterday, I completed goal #36: Give blood.
My school had a blood drive all day yesterday. I signed up last week, and was super nervous all morning. I've donated both blood and plasma before, so I knew it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I am, apparently, a "hard stick." (I really want a button telling everyone so. x) ) My veins are small and fairly deep, so the nurses always have a hard time locating them. Which, if they're.. less than experienced, can hurt. A lot. And usually does. This time, I gave through Memorial Blood Centers, which I would highly recommend. Seriously, I've had sewing classes that hurt more than yesterday.
They had a really hard time finding my vein, though. The checked both arms multiple times, and nearly gave up. I told them, from the start, that I'm a right-arm giver. The first nurse checked it, then checked my left arm, and decided that she liked that one better. So she was searching, but couldn't find anything. So, she called over her superior (who was the one to stick me, in the end), and she looked, and didn't find anything. Then they called over the head nurse, who also couldn't find anything in my left arm. After a few minutes, she asked if they'd checked my right arm, and the original nurse said that she had. The head nurse poked my right arm, and went, "Oh. Right there." So, they set me up with my right arm, and I was finished up like 10 minutes later. They seriously spent more time looking for a vein than I actually spent giving.

Then, I had to run off pretty quick after I was given a bandage. Being a moron, I just grabbed a bunch of cookies and a Coke and walked off to my club. About 15 minutes later, I really regretted that. I nearly fainted, but I was able to save myself by sitting and eating delicious Oreos and lemon cookies. Om nom nom.

Goal 081: Complete!

Yesterday I went to a Twin's game with my knitting group. In total, it was me, Ginger, Kat, Amanda, and Emily, plus Ellie tagged along and knitted with us. I got a ticket with Joe Mauer on it. <3 He's my Twin's boyfriend, according to Kat.
Yesterday was the Stitch n' Pitch event, so you were supposed to bring your knitting to the game. I worked on my kitty-ear'd hat.

It was really fun, and I'm really looking forward to next year.

Cinema History

I started college the other day, as my last post said. One of the classes I'm taking is Cinema History, and we're watching a fair number of films.
So far, in that class, we've watched:
-The Great Train Robbery
-Intolerance
-The General
-Steamboat William Jr.

Next week, we're starting to watch Charlie Chaplin. I haven't ever actually seen anything by Chaplin, so I don't know if they're shorts or actual movies or what.

I'm also watching The Hulk right now, with John, so that'll be another movie I get to add.

Learning

I've completed my first learning goal: Get enrolled in college!
I'm going to Minneapolis Community and Technical College, in downtown. It has, so far, been wonderful. I love being back in school. It's really nice to talk to people I don't know, get out of the house, and, of course, learn stuff.
I'm taking Algebra, Cinema History, Human Geography, Future Shock and Survival, and Strategies for College.

Cinema History has actually lead me to seeing two new movies: The Great Train Robbery, and Intolerance. Both of these films were made in 1916 or earlier. I think Train Robbery was made in 1906 or something? It's only seven minutes long, but I count it as a movie because of its importance. It was one of the first films shot on location, and it was amazing for its time.

I'm doing a little bit of an overhaul on this blog. I want to make it look better, basically. We'll see how that goes.
